Welcome!
First Baptist Church believes in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the authority of scripture, the priesthood of the believer, and the autonomy of the local church.
First Baptist is a traditional Baptist Church that seeks to impact the community through ministry to the people of Chester and Chester County. We have a desire to lift up Jesus and make Him known.

Meet Our Pastor
Clay grew up in the home of a Baptist minister in Georgia. After graduating from Stephens County High School in Toccoa, Georgia, he attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Three weeks after graduating from Furman he married Kathy Bryson, and they moved to Louisville, Kentucky, for Clay to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Shortly after arriving in Kentucky, Clay was called to be the pastor of the Indian Fork Baptist Church in Bagdad, Kentucky. After finishing his degree at the Seminary, he was called in June of 1991 to be the pastor here at First Baptist Church in Chester. Clay and Kathy have three children. Their daughter Rebecca and her husband John, along with their daughters Ellie and Addie, live in Gainesville, Florida. Their son Jacob and his wife Brittani live in Albemarle, North Carolina. Their son Matthew and his wife Amanda live in Powdersville, SC.
